“In our New Normal, the public deserves the confidence of Indoor Air Quality solutions that are backed by science. This study proves the efficacy of one of our flagship products,” said Ron Fink, CEO, RGF® Environmental Group, Inc. “From restaurants to schools and places of business, RGF’s REME HALO® is a tested and proven solution that provides the peace of mind needed to get America back to work.”

The test procedure used the SARS-CoV-2 virus inside a large chamber (1,280 cu. ft.) representing a real-world air-conditioned office or home. The virus was nebulized into the space simulating a sneeze or cough from an infected person. With the REME HALO® operating inside the chamber the virus was reduced on contact, resulting in a 99.9% reduction of the virus within the simulated real-world space.

The REME HALO® active air purification system testing showed the SARS-CoV-2 virus was significantly neutralized within the occupied space on airborne virus, reducing the risk of person-to-person infection by respiratory particles and aerosols. The REME HALO® is an “active” solution that neutralizes SARS-CoV-2 within the occupied space, eliminating the need for virus particles to travel through the HVAC system filters or UV air purification system.

RGF Environmental Group Helps Students and Staff at Palm Beach Day Academy Return to School Safely

Port of Palm Beach, Florida (October 7, 2020) – RGF® Environmental Group, Inc. announces that Palm Beach Day Academy has installed RGF’s PHI-Cell® throughout their upper and lower school campuses prior to students returning to in-class learning. Palm Beach Day Academy, one of the Palm Beaches most prestigious schools, completed installation of PHI-Cell® and REME HALO® in all classrooms to ensure the highest quality of air and the ongoing safety of students as they return to classes.

Palm Beach Day Academy

“We were happy to supply the PHI and REME in-duct air purifiers to Palm Beach Day following a request from the school’s Director of Facilities Chris Evans,” said Tony Julian, RGF’s Vice President of Commercial Products. “After reviewing the RGF® technology and references, Scott and team made a quick decision to install throughout the whole school in order to help with managing concerns around COVID-19.”

The PHI-Cell® and REME HALO® units, which use RGF’s patented technology, install inside existing air conditioning ducts to purify every cubic inch of air throughout the conditioned space. The RGF® technology effectively reduces odors and air pollutants like bacteria and viruses, including H1N1, MRSA, Norwalk, e-coli, and others. Recent testing on SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, indicates similar results to all other virus RGF® has successfully eliminated. The units work by sending out very low levels of airborne hydrogen peroxide into a room, which effectively kills microbial contaminants in the air and on surfaces, while being safe for the building occupants.

“Throughout the pandemic, our top priority has remained the re-opening of our campuses while ensuring the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff,” said Chris Evans, Facility Manager at Palm Beach Day Academy said. “As a result of our partnership with RGF and the installation of their premier air purification technology in our buildings, we felt confident that we could safely execute our Opening of School plan and re-open our doors to our community this fall.”

In addition to the complete installation at Palm Beach Day Academy, RGF’s PHI-Cell® and REME HALO® products are also installed at many other schools and universities, global hotels and resorts, national chain restaurants, as well as various office buildings, medical and dental offices. Many Fortune 500 companies utilize RGF’s proprietary technologies for use in health care, food processing, military, government, marine, hospitality, residential and commercial applications. Over four million PHI Cell® products are installed worldwide, and growing rapidly.

RGF® R&D Engineers Using Meteorites as Electrodes for Revolutionary New UV-C Germicidal Cells

Port of Palm Beach, Florida (September 14, 2020) – RGF® Environmental Group, a leading manufacturer of air, water, and food purification systems announced that its research and development team, led by Dr. James Marsden, has successfully created a new UV-C germicidal UV cell using fragments of a meteorite that pre-date earth’s existence.

After acquiring a handful of meteorites (outer space debris), Jeff Behary, assistant to Dr. Marsden, and his research team at RGF decided to employ the material to create electrodes for a unique ultraviolet (UV) lamp or UV cell. The result was a near continuous spectrum of UV-C that fell along the theoretical curve of wavelengths thought best to disrupt the DNA of bacteria/viruses. RGF now has a patent pending on this novel UV-C generating cell.

RGF UV Cell R&D PR image

“We went on to replicate modern alloys based on the materials found in the meteorites and were able to secure similar results.” says Jeff Behary, RGF’s R&D Technician. “We then started exploring new alloys in addition to many softer elemental materials that were not able to be experimented with successfully in the past because of inferiorities of the apparatus used, lack of adjustability, etc. The next stage is to employ the various formulas under different gases and gas pressures.”

RGF’s patent employs a unique variable pulse capacitor based purely off mathematics as opposed to mechanics, allowing experiments to be replicated more accurately. The capacitor has no moving parts and is adjustable over a wide range not formerly available for this type of specialty component. “In the past, engineers were resigned to choose what was available to them on the market and make do with them, largely due to the high cost and limited availability of such items. This capacitor can have over 500 values, and to have a custom pulse capacitor built with any one of the values would exceed $500 apiece.” said Behary.

Due to the increased application of UV-C in germ fighting around pandemics, Behary and his team believe the application of alternate electrode materials unlocks the potential to open up more UV-C wavelengths in addition to accessing parts of the UV spectrum that have been less-explored. Vacuum UV (VUV) and Far UV have been an interesting topic for years and with these new prototypes it is possible to explore the extreme limits of ultraviolet radiation extending from the shortest wavelengths to near visible light. These enhanced or focused wavelength UV-C cells may offer improved efficiency in real world applications, significantly reducing the exposure time required to inactivate microbes like COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) and other infectious pathogens that have proved difficult to manage in a variety of commercial settings.

Along with pioneering some of RGF’s most advanced research and development projects, Behary is also the curator of RGF’s electromechanical museum. Through the museum RGF has access to authentic, historical UV equipment dating back to the 1800s. Behary goes on to say “Of course much of the inspiration for this work is based directly off that of the pioneers in the field – people like Victor Schumann, Theodore Lyman, Heinrich Kayser, William Marshall Watts. These are major pioneers in the UV field and I’m fortunate to have some personal history of many of them.”

RGF® Expands Operations During Pandemic

RGF® takes great pride in our vertically integrated manufacturing facilities and ability to ship on demand. The pandemic has severely impacted all of us, our suppliers, and our customers, both personally and on a professional level. RGF® carried several weeks of supply to ensure timely deliveries, but many stock levels dropped to zero in a matter of days and we had to react…. FAST.

RGF® is operating as an essential business under the Department of Homeland Security definition for “Critical Manufacturer” defined as “Workers necessary for the manufacturing of materials and products needed for the medical supply chains, critical government operations, food chains ..etc.”. Under these conditions, RGF® had to prioritize hospitals, healthcare facilities and first responders, while diligently handling the growing demand from our loyal HVAC customers.

RGF® has taken extraordinary measures to address the major interruptions in our supply chain and to support the over 500% increase in the demand of our residential, commercial, and medical FDA 510(K) cleared products.

Here is just a sample of the many actions taken and still underway:

  • Several new hardware suppliers and fabrication houses were qualified and brought on board quickly to increase capacity while we addressed the capacity of our internal operations.
  • RGF® purchased a 24,000 ft2 building on 1.5 acres in January 2020 for anticipated normal steady growth. As a result of this massive increase in demand, the fit-up of the building was successfully accelerated from a three-month plan to less than one month. This increased the RGF® Envisionland complex to 9 Acres with 130,000 ft2 of manufacturing, warehousing, and office space.
  • RGF’s innovative team developed new programable drilling fixtures and are implementing robotic automation methods to improve productivity and quality.
  • RGF® invested over $2,000,000 in new equipment including two new press brakes and two new state-of-the-art high-performance fiber-optic Laser metal cutting machines. These were all installed in the new building and were up and running in record time.
  • Our creative metal workers and welders quickly constructed new production workstations for REME HALO® and HALO-LED™ air purification products, while also designing, building, and installing custom material handling equipment for the new fabrication lines.
  • Metal fabrication and product assembly lines expanded to 24 hours, 7 days a week operation.
  • Implemented new health and safety measures, including thermal imaging scanning.
  • The size of the workforce was tripled, to over 400 including staffing of Operations, Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Quality, Customer Service, Legal and Maintenance.

New press brakes and lasers

RGF® Environmental Group’s New Conveyor Solution Sterilizes 30,000 N95 Masks Per Day to Help Healthcare Workers Combat COVID-19

RGF and HVAC Vendor Jackson Services Collaborated on Solution that Combines 360-Degree UV Light and Hydrogen Peroxide Gas Sterilization

Port of Palm Beach, Florida (April 20, 2020) – RGF® Environmental Group, Inc., a Florida-based environmental design and manufacturing company, announced today a breakthrough process for sanitizing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as the N95 mask. Once sterilized, the masks can be reused multiple of times, which provides front line workers with additional supplies to better manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Jackson Services, one of the company’s HVAC contractors, helped implement the solution and connected RGF with Capstone Healthcare Lab which tests for COVID-19.

Once in place and approved, the solution will sterilize upwards of 30,000 N95 masks per day. Safe sterilization allows healthcare workers to reuse masks safely, so they can leverage their current supplies of masks which are in critically short supply throughout the world.

Mask sterilizer conveyor

The innovative sanitization system is a modified version of an RGF food sanitation tunnel. The food sanitation tunnel is a conveyor system designed for the end of a food process line where a final anti-microbial treatment is applied before packaging or grinding.

Masks are loaded onto the solution’s conveyors, which slowly move them past a combination of RGF’s patented Photohydroionization® (PHI) process and germicidal UV light. PHI uses UV light targeted on a catalyst to create airborne hydrogen peroxide gases in an advanced oxidation process, and 254 NM UV light is focused on the masks to sterilize contact surfaces. The modification to the current sanitization system involves increasing the hydrogen peroxide generation to three percent, a level which is predicted to eliminate COVID-19 and other contagions.

Atlanta-based Capstone Healthcare Lab is setting up its facilities to utilize and test the new RGF sanitization system. The lab tests COVID-19 samples and conducts genetics and toxicology tests. Capstone Healthcare Lab is running short of PPE supplies, and hopes to use the RGF solution to sanitize its own supplies and offer the service to local hospitals and healthcare facilities, including Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

“The COVID-19 pandemic places extraordinary demands on healthcare workers and the PPE supply chain,” said Tony Julian, Vice President of Business Development at RGF. “We anticipate immediate and sustained demand for this solution at Capstone Healthcare Lab and other facilities that need a safe and proven method to reuse masks.”

Port of Palm Beach, Florida (June 1st, 2020) – RGF® Environmental Group, Inc., a Florida-based environmental design and manufacturing company, is partnering with businesses nationwide in an effort to help them open their doors post-COVID 19. Businesses across America are installing RGF’s REME HALO, an in-duct air purifier, to remove impurities such as viruses and bacteria from the air. RGF is proud to manufacture and supply this product to help businesses across the country provide a safer environment for not only their employees, but their customers as well.

CycleBar, the world’s first and largest indoor cycling franchise, utilizes the REME HALO solution in various locations throughout the United States. “We are going to extreme measures to keep people healthy,” said John Janszen, owner of multiple CycleBar studios in Ohio. “I don’t understand how any business can run without a REME HALO; it should be mandatory.”

REME HALOs and RGF’s Microcon 600 HEPA filter units will soon be installed in several Lightbridge Academy locations, an early-childhood education daycare and development center. RGF was eager to partner with this daycare network and many others, in an effort to help kids stay healthy and help their parents get back to work.

“As we look to the future, we are implementing enhanced health & safety measures and solutions that we can rely on,” said Lightbridge Academy COO and President, Gigi Schweikert. “The Microcon units are the gold standard in air purification and filtration. As The Solution for Working Parents®, Lightbridge Academy knows that they need to feel confident we have invested in the best technology available to maintain a healthy environment for their children.”

Not only is the REME HALO being installed in gyms, daycares and restaurants – it is also being used in office buildings, public transit networks, government and military facilities, assisted living, hospitals and dentist offices nationwide. As front-line workers continue to risk their lives to keep us healthy and phase one workers start to open up America again, RGF is working to keep their workplaces virus-free.

“You won’t even know that this purification process is happening when you walk in the office, but rest assured it is,” said Dr. Nick Ciardiello, DMD. “We are taking this very seriously and will do everything we can to keep our patients safe.”

RGF® Introduces the Guardian Halo™, an Entire Body Passive Detection and Sanitizing System

Port of Palm Beach, Florida (May 26, 2020) – RGF® Environmental Group introduces the Guardian Halo™. An entire body passive detection and sanitizing system for the office, factory, retail stores, restaurants, medical facilities, transportation modes, schools and food processors.

The walk-through arch includes eye, hair, and skin safe 360-degree UV high energy lights and a sanitizing Photohydroionization® (PHI) fog. This is based on hydro peroxides and silver ions that are activated by the UV energy. RGF’s patented PHI-cell® technology has a long and well validated history of killing MRSA, H1N1 (Swine Flu), Avian Influenza, Picornaviruses, TB, mold, C. Diff. and Staph to name a few. PHI or Photohydroionization® was first developed by RGF in the early 1990s and to date over 4 million PHI-Cells® are safely in use in over 60 countries.

The Guardian Halo also includes an auto thermal imaging camera for body temperature. When it detects a high temperature, the Guardian Halo will light up red. In addition, an optional alcohol sniffer, which when it detects alcohol will activate a yellow light.

Once inside the unit, the fog sanitizes your exposed skin, clothes and the bottom of your shoes.

This unit is a prototype built for third party efficacy testing and safety testing. Production is scheduled for later this year.
